Narrative:

We were given a descent from 15000 ft to 10000 ft. After establishing the descent, it became apparent that we would be coming fairly close to a TCASII target beneath us once the target entered 5 mi. I reduced TCASII display range to gain better detail. At that point, the target became red and an RA was announced. The captain disengaged the autoplt and began a shallow climb to avoid the target. We saw the other rj pass below at close range. I advised ATC of the RA and climb. As soon as the captain began maneuvering. After 'clear of conflict' was received, we descended down to our target altitude.
