Narrative:
After takeoff, while climbing, a very loud noise was heard on aircraft and felt vibration under my ft. Noise lasted about 30 seconds to 1 min. Passenger in first class also heard noise. I called via interphone to other flight attendants to find out if they also heard it. I immediately called cockpit to notify. I was informed we were having a mechanical problem, would be returning to ord and he would call me back. Second call told problem with nose gear or nose gear door to all flight attendants. No emergency preparation needed except to review '30 second review' before landing. Passenger then briefed by captain via PA. He did not anticipate 'problems.' upon landing, emergency crews (fire trucks, etc) met aircraft, pinned nosewheel, and we taxied to gate. All procedures followed.
