Narrative:
During service check of cockpit lights, found the l-hand forward window 'on' light inoperative. Relamp did not help -- found the base was bad. Informed my lead and was told to replace the control module. He proceeded to go to the stock room and get it for me. I took it and installed it on the aircraft. All the lights worked and operations check was normal. The captain of the originating flight on the aircraft noticed that it was the wrong control module south/I 0300012 and informed maintenance. A delay was incurred while the correct module south/I 0300004 was installed. I did not realize that there were 2 different modules for the -200. My lead says the unit was in the wrong box in the stock room. Should have been checked by the lead and myself before installation.
