Narrative:
Visual approach, cleared to land runway 05L at raleigh durham airport. On short final tower cleared another aircraft to take off on runway 05L. The aircraft proceeded onto the runway and takeoff. We initiated go around and informed tower. Tower responded 'I'm sorry, I thought I cleared you to land runway 05R.' we were then cleared for right closed traffic and to land on 05R. Controller may have been working several frequencies at time of occurrence. I think the pilot of the other aircraft should have checked final before accepting takeoff clearance.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CL65 FLC ON VISUAL APCH FINAL WHEN THEY HEARD TWR CLR ANOTHER ACFT FOR TKOF THE PARALLEL RWY ON WHICH THEY HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND. THEY INITIATED A GAR AND ADVISED THE TWR ACCORDINGLY SINCE THERE APPEARED INSUFFICIENT SPACING.
Narrative: VISUAL APCH, CLRED TO LAND RWY 05L AT RALEIGH DURHAM ARPT. ON SHORT FINAL TWR CLRED ANOTHER ACFT TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 05L. THE ACFT PROCEEDED ONTO THE RWY AND TKOF. WE INITIATED GAR AND INFORMED TWR. TWR RESPONDED 'I'M SORRY, I THOUGHT I CLRED YOU TO LAND RWY 05R.' WE WERE THEN CLRED FOR R CLOSED TFC AND TO LAND ON 05R. CTLR MAY HAVE BEEN WORKING SEVERAL FREQUENCIES AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE. I THINK THE PLT OF THE OTHER ACFT SHOULD HAVE CHKED FINAL BEFORE ACCEPTING TAKEOFF CLRNC.
