Narrative:
Crew illness due to suspected food poisoning. After blocking into xyz at XA12Z, one of the augmented crew members informed me that the augmented flight engineer (on rest) had become very ill. I immediately talked to flight engineer to find that he had severe abdominal pain, was frequently vomiting and that the illness came on suddenly after our arrival in xyz. Further, he had a headache, extreme nausea, chills and was very weak. He further stated he did not feel he could continue to operate in his condition in which I fully agreed. His condition did not appear perilous or require an emergency response, however, I immediately called the duty manager and established a conference call between flight engineer, an in-flight medical service physician and the duty manager while I arranged to get medical help locally for flight engineer through the station representative. On the initial leg of the trip, flight engineer had consumed a meal from the ZZZ1 uploaded catering. He was the only crew member to consume a meal with sausage on the breakfast entree. Aside from this, similar items had been consumed by all the other operating crew (eggs, fruit, etc). The entire crew also shared common items from the subsequent uploaded catering with no mal-effects. Symptoms from severe food poisoning usually take hours (approximately 10-12) to manifest themselves. After talking with the in-flight medical service physician and duty manager, we established that flight engineer would be taken to a hotel to get medical attention and rest. The local station representative arranged a hotel room and physician's house visit for him. I asked the crew tracker to assist him in contacting his spouse after he reached the hotel so he could advise that he would be in good care.

Title: B747 RELIEF SO GOT SEVERE FOOD POISONING FROM A COMPANY PROVIDED CREW MEAL.
Narrative: CREW ILLNESS DUE TO SUSPECTED FOOD POISONING. AFTER BLOCKING INTO XYZ AT XA12Z, ONE OF THE AUGMENTED CREW MEMBERS INFORMED ME THAT THE AUGMENTED FE (ON REST) HAD BECOME VERY ILL. I IMMEDIATELY TALKED TO FE TO FIND THAT HE HAD SEVERE ABDOMINAL PAIN, WAS FREQUENTLY VOMITING AND THAT THE ILLNESS CAME ON SUDDENLY AFTER OUR ARR IN XYZ. FURTHER, HE HAD A HEADACHE, EXTREME NAUSEA, CHILLS AND WAS VERY WEAK. HE FURTHER STATED HE DID NOT FEEL HE COULD CONTINUE TO OPERATE IN HIS CONDITION IN WHICH I FULLY AGREED. HIS CONDITION DID NOT APPEAR PERILOUS OR REQUIRE AN EMER RESPONSE, HOWEVER, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DUTY MGR AND ESTABLISHED A CONFERENCE CALL BTWN FE, AN INFLT MEDICAL SVC PHYSICIAN AND THE DUTY MGR WHILE I ARRANGED TO GET MEDICAL HELP LOCALLY FOR FE THROUGH THE STATION REPRESENTATIVE. ON THE INITIAL LEG OF THE TRIP, FE HAD CONSUMED A MEAL FROM THE ZZZ1 UPLOADED CATERING. SYMPTOMS FROM SEVERE FOOD POISONING USUALLY TAKE HRS (APPROX 10-12) TO MANIFEST THEMSELVES. AFTER TALKING WITH THE INFLT MEDICAL SVC PHYSICIAN AND DUTY MGR, WE ESTABLISHED THAT FE WOULD BE TAKEN TO A HOTEL TO GET MEDICAL ATTN AND REST. THE LCL STATION REPRESENTATIVE ARRANGED A HOTEL ROOM AND PHYSICIAN'S HOUSE VISIT FOR HIM. I ASKED THE CREW TRACKER TO ASSIST HIM IN CONTACTING HIS SPOUSE AFTER HE REACHED THE HOTEL SO HE COULD ADVISE THAT HE WOULD BE IN GOOD CARE.
