Narrative:

During cruise, I noted the battery temperature (N1 cad) had gone up to approximately 140 degrees (yellow zone). I continued to monitor the temperature and in approximately 2 mins the temperature rose to 160 degrees (red zone) and we performed checklist items. Battery off monitor temperature. The temperature continued to rise so we diverted to columbia and requested immediate descent for landing. I consider this a precautionary landing to avoid a potential emergency I requested an ILS to runway 20. I requested that the fire department meet the aircraft and remove the battery. The battery was hot when we parked and the fire department was great in their response.
