Narrative:
I started the engine after preflting the plane and smoke and flames began blowing into the cockpit. I exited the plane as fast as possible and called the fire department. The FBO tried a hand-held fire extinguisher to no avail. The plane was totally destroyed in 10 mins. I was planning a pleasure flight within vicinity of airport (less than 50 mi). There were no injuries. There was no damage to taxiway or hangars or any other aircraft.

Narrative: I STARTED THE ENG AFTER PREFLTING THE PLANE AND SMOKE AND FLAMES BEGAN BLOWING INTO THE COCKPIT. I EXITED THE PLANE AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. THE FBO TRIED A HAND-HELD FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO NO AVAIL. THE PLANE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED IN 10 MINS. I WAS PLANNING A PLEASURE FLT WITHIN VICINITY OF ARPT (LESS THAN 50 MI). THERE WERE NO INJURIES.
