Narrative:

The left engine began to operate rough in level cruise flight conditions. I proceeded through the troubleshooting procedures as published in the poh. Without any relief in the problem, I returned the left engine to zero thrust. I made a visual descent to 8500 ft MSL and advised ZID that my left engine was running rough and that I had decided to fly to fft, ky. Approximately 10 mins before landing, I completed the engine shutdown checklist and made the visual approach to runway 24 at fft. After the mechanic called xyz aircraft manufacturer, they requested that the engine be shipped to them because it was under warranty. The actual cause of the problem has yet to be determined.
