Narrative:

Upon landing at uncontrolled airport, fairly busy traffic, the airplane was second on approach with 2 following. Airplane in front landed and turned off as I landed and the airplane behind reported short final. In an effort to increase braking power, I attempted to retract flaps, but grabbed the landing gear retracting switch. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough weight on the squat switch and the landing gear completely retracted, causing the airplane to skid to a stop. Damage was limited to belly and propeller. No injuries were incurred. Human consideration: better identify of gear switch. Airplane had toggle switch rather than wheel shape. Rushed feeling from following traffic. Improvement: better training to not retract flaps until off runway and verify correct switch.

Title: PIPER PA24-250 INADVERTENTLY RETRACTED THE LNDG GEAR INSTEAD OF FLAPS DURING THE LNDG ROLL.

Narrative: UPON LNDG AT UNCTLED ARPT, FAIRLY BUSY TFC, THE AIRPLANE WAS SECOND ON APCH WITH 2 FOLLOWING. AIRPLANE IN FRONT LANDED AND TURNED OFF AS I LANDED AND THE AIRPLANE BEHIND RPTED SHORT FINAL. IN AN EFFORT TO INCREASE BRAKING PWR, I ATTEMPTED TO RETRACT FLAPS, BUT GRABBED THE LNDG GEAR RETRACTING SWITCH. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WASN'T ENOUGH WT ON THE SQUAT SWITCH AND THE LNDG GEAR COMPLETELY RETRACTED, CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO SKID TO A STOP. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO BELLY AND PROP. NO INJURIES WERE INCURRED. HUMAN CONSIDERATION: BETTER IDENT OF GEAR SWITCH. AIRPLANE HAD TOGGLE SWITCH RATHER THAN WHEEL SHAPE. RUSHED FEELING FROM FOLLOWING TFC. IMPROVEMENT: BETTER TRAINING TO NOT RETRACT FLAPS UNTIL OFF RWY AND VERIFY CORRECT SWITCH.
