Narrative:
I was cleared to taxi to runway 9 from taxiway C to '5' for takeoff. A DC10 was told about our path and to allow us to pass in front of him due to jetblast. The DC10 stopped short of runway 9 on the north side -- thinking (or not) that he was holding in order for us to pass in front of him. We turned out onto the runway to get out of his way and inadvertently taxied onto the active without clearance. Since the DC10 was blocking our path, ground sent us to tower, who quickly cleared us for takeoff and nothing further was said. You would think 30 yrs of flying would prevent dumb actions -- but it doesn't!
