Narrative:
On eastbound climb out from fty, we leveled at assigned altitude of 3100 ft and turned to assigned heading of 360 degrees. There was a lot of radio chatter between ATC departure and an aircraft I believe was requesting advisories. This delayed our check in with departure control because we could not break into the conversation. When we finally were able to check in, we were given a climb to 5000 ft. We initiated a climb of an approximately 3500-4000 FPM to the assigned altitude. Almost immediately, there was a TA followed by an RA with the display showing an aircraft 300 ft over and just ahead of us. The PIC immediately pushed aggressively over to descend from the apparent conflict. After we began the descent, I radioed ATC of the evasive maneuver we had just accomplished. He said he did not see the traffic until just prior to my call to him. We continued without further incident, though a little shaken.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: NMAC AT 3200 FT BTWN A DEP C560 AND A VFR GA TYPE ACFT IN THE VFR FLYWAY CORRIDOR 3 NM NE OF FTY, GA.
Narrative: ON EBOUND CLBOUT FROM FTY, WE LEVELED AT ASSIGNED ALT OF 3100 FT AND TURNED TO ASSIGNED HDG OF 360 DEGS. THERE WAS A LOT OF RADIO CHATTER BTWN ATC DEP AND AN ACFT I BELIEVE WAS REQUESTING ADVISORIES. THIS DELAYED OUR CHK IN WITH DEP CTL BECAUSE WE COULD NOT BREAK INTO THE CONVERSATION. WHEN WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO CHK IN, WE WERE GIVEN A CLB TO 5000 FT. WE INITIATED A CLB OF AN APPROX 3500-4000 FPM TO THE ASSIGNED ALT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A TA FOLLOWED BY AN RA WITH THE DISPLAY SHOWING AN ACFT 300 FT OVER AND JUST AHEAD OF US. THE PIC IMMEDIATELY PUSHED AGGRESSIVELY OVER TO DESCEND FROM THE APPARENT CONFLICT. AFTER WE BEGAN THE DSCNT, I RADIOED ATC OF THE EVASIVE MANEUVER WE HAD JUST ACCOMPLISHED. HE SAID HE DID NOT SEE THE TFC UNTIL JUST PRIOR TO MY CALL TO HIM. WE CONTINUED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT, THOUGH A LITTLE SHAKEN.
