Narrative:
Left engine fuel filter EICAS message resulted in our divert to sea 1 hour 20 mins en route. Problem indicated possible imminent fuel bypass/flameout. Repeat of previous 3 discrepancies problem was supposedly fixed when it happened to us. Mechanic stated it appeared to have been a blocked filter when he checked things out at the gate in sea.

Title: B777-200 CREW DIVERTED TO THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT AFTER RECEIVING A FUEL FILTER BYPASS EICAS MESSAGE. THIS WAS THE FOURTH REPEAT OF THE DISCREPANCY.
Narrative: L ENG FUEL FILTER EICAS MESSAGE RESULTED IN OUR DIVERT TO SEA 1 HR 20 MINS ENRTE. PROB INDICATED POSSIBLE IMMINENT FUEL BYPASS/FLAMEOUT.
