Narrative:
Diversion due to air conditioning fumes. Had a burning smell throughout cabin on takeoff roll. Turned off recirculating fan, smell dissipated. Recurred about 1.5 hours into flight. Grew to very strong smell throughout aircraft. Declared emergency and diverted to ZZZ.

Title: MD80 CREW DETECTED A STRONG BURNING ODOR IN THE CABIN.
Narrative: DIVERSION DUE TO AIR CONDITIONING FUMES. HAD A BURNING SMELL THROUGHOUT CABIN ON TKOF ROLL. TURNED OFF RECIRCULATING FAN, SMELL DISSIPATED. RECURRED ABOUT 1.5 HRS INTO FLT. GREW TO VERY STRONG SMELL THROUGHOUT ACFT. DECLARED EMER AND DIVERTED TO ZZZ.
