Narrative:
On first landing attempt, aircraft bounced on main gear and then hit on nosewheel, at which time I executed a missed approach. Upon touching down on the second landing attempt, the nose gear began to vibrate violently and then gave way. It was discovered that the nose gear tire was blown, probably on the first landing attempt. When the nose gear collapsed, the propeller struck the ground and the aircraft veered to the left side of the runway and slid along the side of the runway coming to rest a couple of hundred ft down the runway with the right wing hanging over the runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BL17 PLT DURING AN ATTEMPTED LNDG, BOUNCED, SPAWNING A GAR. DURING THE PROCESS, THE NOSE GEAR WAS DAMAGED RESULTING IN THE GEAR COLLAPSING ON A SUBSEQUENT LNDG.
Narrative: ON FIRST LNDG ATTEMPT, ACFT BOUNCED ON MAIN GEAR AND THEN HIT ON NOSEWHEEL, AT WHICH TIME I EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. UPON TOUCHING DOWN ON THE SECOND LNDG ATTEMPT, THE NOSE GEAR BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY AND THEN GAVE WAY. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE NOSE GEAR TIRE WAS BLOWN, PROBABLY ON THE FIRST LNDG ATTEMPT. WHEN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED, THE PROP STRUCK THE GND AND THE ACFT VEERED TO THE L SIDE OF THE RWY AND SLID ALONG THE SIDE OF THE RWY COMING TO REST A COUPLE OF HUNDRED FT DOWN THE RWY WITH THE R WING HANGING OVER THE RWY.
