Narrative:
We completed the ILS to runway 16R at seatac. We were told to exit at taxiway P (high speed). Our normal exit would be taxiway north, but it was closed for construction. I always repeat back to the first officer either 'hold short' or 'cross.' this time I did not. It was my first leg of the day. After our taxiway P, I looked around and realized I saw no hold short line (it had to be behind me), so I stopped. Then the tower saw we had passed the hold short and told us to stop. Our aircraft was about 1/2 way over the hold short. The departing aircraft was already airborne (runway 16L) before we crossed the line. The problem arose from using a different exit than usual, early arrival. I will make sure, in the future, that when the first officer acknowledges hold short or cross, he also acknowledges my response of the same. I spent 30 mins of training with the director of ground training at my company and covered hold short restrs, readback and response, and focus after landing until the aircraft is secured.

Narrative: WE COMPLETED THE ILS TO RWY 16R AT SEATAC. WE WERE TOLD TO EXIT AT TXWY P (HIGH SPD). OUR NORMAL EXIT WOULD BE TXWY N, BUT IT WAS CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION. I ALWAYS REPEAT BACK TO THE FO EITHER 'HOLD SHORT' OR 'CROSS.' THIS TIME I DID NOT. IT WAS MY FIRST LEG OF THE DAY. AFTER OUR TXWY P, I LOOKED AROUND AND REALIZED I SAW NO HOLD SHORT LINE (IT HAD TO BE BEHIND ME), SO I STOPPED. THEN THE TWR SAW WE HAD PASSED THE HOLD SHORT AND TOLD US TO STOP. OUR ACFT WAS ABOUT 1/2 WAY OVER THE HOLD SHORT. THE DEPARTING ACFT WAS ALREADY AIRBORNE (RWY 16L) BEFORE WE CROSSED THE LINE. THE PROB AROSE FROM USING A DIFFERENT EXIT THAN USUAL, EARLY ARR. I WILL MAKE SURE, IN THE FUTURE, THAT WHEN THE FO ACKNOWLEDGES HOLD SHORT OR CROSS, HE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGES MY RESPONSE OF THE SAME. I SPENT 30 MINS OF TRAINING WITH THE DIRECTOR OF GND TRAINING AT MY COMPANY AND COVERED HOLD SHORT RESTRS, READBACK AND RESPONSE, AND FOCUS AFTER LNDG UNTIL THE ACFT IS SECURED.
