Narrative:
Engine severe damage, excessive inlet turbine temperature. During climb out out of sdf at 6000 ft, a loud bang accompanied by excessive inlet turbine temperature. A burning smell in the cockpit detected other engine parameters normal. A precautionary shutdown of engine #1. ATC notified. Emergency declared. Crash fire rescue equipment at airport called. Checklists for abnormal and subsequent phases of flight handled. Landed without incident.

Narrative: ENG SEVERE DAMAGE, EXCESSIVE INLET TURBINE TEMP. DURING CLBOUT OUT OF SDF AT 6000 FT, A LOUD BANG ACCOMPANIED BY EXCESSIVE INLET TURBINE TEMP.
