Narrative:
In cruise at FL290, autoplt engaged, first officer at the controls. Received an L14 duct warning message. I ran the procedure while the first officer continued to fly the aircraft and handled ATC radio frequency. The procedure called for shutting down the engine, which we did. We declared an emergency, diverted to iad. We landed without incident, had crash fire rescue equipment check the aircraft, then taxied to the gate.
