Narrative:
Aircraft X current logbook write-up jul/mon/02, check oil level. Read 13 quarts down to 10 quarts ZZZ1-ZZZ. Oil breather check was accomplished and was out of limits. Engine was going to be changed. Then JT8D power plant specialist said that engine oil consumption was within limits per maintenance manual 71-00-00 page 203 and engine would not be changed. This message was relayed through about 3 people. Engine was put on oil watch and signed off per maintenance manual 71-00-00 page 203.
