Narrative:

In cruise flight at 800 ft AGL, approximately 10 mi northwest of platform, eugene island, I was forced to execute an evasive maneuver (abrupt climb) in order to miss another helicopter that was about to hit my port side. The WX was clear with 10+ mi visibility. Obviously the other aircraft did not see me, nor I him, until just prior to an imminent collision. Recommend all aircraft be fitted with strobe kits and/or collision avoidance kits.
