Problem Areas | Passenger Human Performance |
Primary Problem | Passenger Human Performance |
Narrative:
Passenger seated in xa hit me with his bags 2 times during boarding. When I said excuse me, he looked at me straight in the eyes with a challenging stare. When the captain said 'prepare for departure,' he stood up and went to the lavatory for approximately 10 mins. When flight attendant #4 knocked on the door, he screamed 'wait.' he came out and sat down. When captain said 'prepare for takeoff,' the passenger stood up again (he said he needed a blanket). He had crossed words with #4 flight attendant and I saw her talking to him and using her hands in a very upsetting way. That's when I called the captain and we returned to the gate. When he came off, he started verbally abusing the agents, the supervisors, all in front of the captain. He didn't look mentally sane. He was a problem since boarding, and I think that the problem was incredibly well handled by the captain. He didn't hesitate to turn the plane around, and he suggested that this passenger not fly with the airlines anymore. Passenger that give problems on planes and disrupt a flight to the point of turning around and taking them off the aircraft, shouldn't be allowed to fly with that carrier again. That's what should be done for passenger to realize that bad behavior and/or assaulting crew members or passenger is not going to be tolerated. That way, people will behave.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A PAX IS REMOVED AFTER HE HAD CREATED SOME LEVEL OF DISTURBANCE IN THE CABIN DURING A B757'S GATE AND TAXI PROCS AT MIA, FL.
Narrative: PAX SEATED IN XA HIT ME WITH HIS BAGS 2 TIMES DURING BOARDING. WHEN I SAID EXCUSE ME, HE LOOKED AT ME STRAIGHT IN THE EYES WITH A CHALLENGING STARE. WHEN THE CAPT SAID 'PREPARE FOR DEP,' HE STOOD UP AND WENT TO THE LAVATORY FOR APPROX 10 MINS. WHEN FLT ATTENDANT #4 KNOCKED ON THE DOOR, HE SCREAMED 'WAIT.' HE CAME OUT AND SAT DOWN. WHEN CAPT SAID 'PREPARE FOR TKOF,' THE PAX STOOD UP AGAIN (HE SAID HE NEEDED A BLANKET). HE HAD CROSSED WORDS WITH #4 FLT ATTENDANT AND I SAW HER TALKING TO HIM AND USING HER HANDS IN A VERY UPSETTING WAY. THAT'S WHEN I CALLED THE CAPT AND WE RETURNED TO THE GATE. WHEN HE CAME OFF, HE STARTED VERBALLY ABUSING THE AGENTS, THE SUPVRS, ALL IN FRONT OF THE CAPT. HE DIDN'T LOOK MENTALLY SANE. HE WAS A PROB SINCE BOARDING, AND I THINK THAT THE PROB WAS INCREDIBLY WELL HANDLED BY THE CAPT. HE DIDN'T HESITATE TO TURN THE PLANE AROUND, AND HE SUGGESTED THAT THIS PAX NOT FLY WITH THE AIRLINES ANYMORE. PAX THAT GIVE PROBS ON PLANES AND DISRUPT A FLT TO THE POINT OF TURNING AROUND AND TAKING THEM OFF THE ACFT, SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO FLY WITH THAT CARRIER AGAIN. THAT'S WHAT SHOULD BE DONE FOR PAX TO REALIZE THAT BAD BEHAVIOR AND/OR ASSAULTING CREW MEMBERS OR PAX IS NOT GOING TO BE TOLERATED. THAT WAY, PEOPLE WILL BEHAVE.
