Narrative:
We were 'cleared for ILS runway 26' at iah. Controller did not mention nor did we notice ILS OTS on ATIS. Cleared for the ILS runway 4000 ft, PF thought for a second that we had a false GS capture since the aft pitched up unexplainably and momentarily began a climb. PF disconnected the autoplt and called for 'flight directors off.' descending on GS, controller asked if we were going to be able to make it down ok and then mentioned that the GS was OTS. PF elected to execute a go around. Thinking we had an automatic thrust reverser system malfunction, we selected automatic thrust reverser off. We then tried a couple of times to re-establish automation with confusing results, since monitoring pilot only selected his flight director off when called for by PF.

Title: A LOW TIME A319 PIC HAS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE WITH HIS ACFT DURING AN ATTEMPTED ILS APCH TO AN OTS ILS RWY 26 WITH A GAR AND ANOTHER APCH TO IAH, TX.
Narrative: WE WERE 'CLRED FOR ILS RWY 26' AT IAH. CTLR DID NOT MENTION NOR DID WE NOTICE ILS OTS ON ATIS. CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 4000 FT, PF THOUGHT FOR A SECOND THAT WE HAD A FALSE GS CAPTURE SINCE THE AFT PITCHED UP UNEXPLAINABLY AND MOMENTARILY BEGAN A CLB. PF DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND CALLED FOR 'FLT DIRECTORS OFF.' DSNDING ON GS, CTLR ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT DOWN OK AND THEN MENTIONED THAT THE GS WAS OTS. PF ELECTED TO EXECUTE A GAR. THINKING WE HAD AN AUTO THRUST REVERSER SYS MALFUNCTION, WE SELECTED AUTO THRUST REVERSER OFF. WE THEN TRIED A COUPLE OF TIMES TO RE-ESTABLISH AUTOMATION WITH CONFUSING RESULTS, SINCE MONITORING PLT ONLY SELECTED HIS FLT DIRECTOR OFF WHEN CALLED FOR BY PF.
