Narrative:
On descent into cvg at 11000 ft, we got a message on the MFDU for a hydraulic system 1 low qty. We performed the checklist on the MFDU and the red operation manual. We declared an emergency. The checklist required alternate landing gear and flap operation. I made a PA to the passenger and notified the flight attendants. After we completed the checklist and the flight attendants had time to complete securing the cabin, we landed on runway 18R without any further incident. Communication was established between the rescue command vehicle and myself and determined there were no visible problems with the aircraft after we stopped on the runway. No evacuation was done. After discussion with dispatch and maintenance control to properly secure the aircraft, we were towed to the gate. Only minor damage was done to the right main gear door and both skid pads.
