Narrative:
Landed in ZZZ1 and during reverse, the #1 engine made a popping noise that sounded like a compressor stall. ZZZ1 maintenance performed inspection and corrective action per maintenance manual 71-00-43-1. Due to the history, I contacted engineering for help. I asked if we needed to perform a borescope per the maintenance manual. He stated the borescope was previously complied with so perform the troubleshooting. ZZZ2 maintenance found the cbp venturi clogged, cleaned same and performed engine run with no defects. Aircraft returned to service. The borescope was not performed after the event, that is the problem. It should have been complied with. The confusion was between myself and the engineer. The borescope was complied with the next day and the #1 engine MEL was replaced.

Title: A B737-300 DURING MAINT FOR A #1 ENG COMPRESSOR STALL A DEFERRED ITEM FOR A REQUIRED BORESCOPE WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED.
Narrative: LANDED IN ZZZ1 AND DURING REVERSE, THE #1 ENG MADE A POPPING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A COMPRESSOR STALL. ZZZ1 MAINT PERFORMED INSPECTION AND CORRECTIVE ACTION PER MAINT MANUAL 71-00-43-1. DUE TO THE HISTORY, I CONTACTED ENGINEERING FOR HELP. I ASKED IF WE NEEDED TO PERFORM A BORESCOPE PER THE MAINT MANUAL. HE STATED THE BORESCOPE WAS PREVIOUSLY COMPLIED WITH SO PERFORM THE TROUBLESHOOTING. ZZZ2 MAINT FOUND THE CBP VENTURI CLOGGED, CLEANED SAME AND PERFORMED ENG RUN WITH NO DEFECTS. ACFT RETURNED TO SVC. THE BORESCOPE WAS NOT PERFORMED AFTER THE EVENT, THAT IS THE PROB. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLIED WITH. THE CONFUSION WAS BTWN MYSELF AND THE ENGINEER. THE BORESCOPE WAS COMPLIED WITH THE NEXT DAY AND THE #1 ENG MEL WAS REPLACED.
