Narrative:
While in night IMC, our aircraft lost its attitude and directional gyroscopes due to suction pump failure. An immediate descent to VFR was followed and cleared by ATC (ZHU). Aircraft proceeded to its destination in mixed conditions. A block altitude was assigned to the aircraft, which was maintained throughout the rest of the approach. The approach controller vectored the aircraft on a non gyroscope/ILS approach. Ceilings were 1200 ft and visibility 6 mi, under the overcast. The aircraft proceeded to land safely and without any further difficulties. No damage to aircraft nor injuries to crew members. ATC did not report any loss of separation, nor altitude infringement. Their help was invaluable to the safe conclusion of this flight.

Title: A C182 INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT, UPON LOSING THEIR VACUUM PUMP, WERE ISSUED A NO GYROSCOPE APCH TO DEST BY ATC.
Narrative: WHILE IN NIGHT IMC, OUR ACFT LOST ITS ATTITUDE AND DIRECTIONAL GYROSCOPES DUE TO SUCTION PUMP FAILURE. AN IMMEDIATE DSCNT TO VFR WAS FOLLOWED AND CLRED BY ATC (ZHU). ACFT PROCEEDED TO ITS DEST IN MIXED CONDITIONS. A BLOCK ALT WAS ASSIGNED TO THE ACFT, WHICH WAS MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE APCH. THE APCH CTLR VECTORED THE ACFT ON A NON GYROSCOPE/ILS APCH. CEILINGS WERE 1200 FT AND VISIBILITY 6 MI, UNDER THE OVCST. THE ACFT PROCEEDED TO LAND SAFELY AND WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DIFFICULTIES. NO DAMAGE TO ACFT NOR INJURIES TO CREW MEMBERS. ATC DID NOT RPT ANY LOSS OF SEPARATION, NOR ALT INFRINGEMENT. THEIR HELP WAS INVALUABLE TO THE SAFE CONCLUSION OF THIS FLT.
