Narrative:
I was on taxiway north at approach end of runway 28L awaiting departure on runway 28L. Tower said 'I want you to cross the runway. I have aircraft landing on runway 32, I want you to cross the runway, best time.' I saw the aircraft on approach to runway 32 and he was still a comfortable distance out. I started across the intersection of runway 28L and runway 32 and discovered no taxiway on which to clear the runways. I informed the controller of this. He told the aircraft on approach to go around and for me to do a 180 degree turn. If he had told me to taxi wbound on runway 28L, cross runway 32 and hold in position, I would have understood what he wanted me to do. I fell into this trap by trying to comply with his hasty and unprofessional instructions.
