Narrative:
Leaving helicopter practice area south of runway, I did a clearing turn to view both ends of runway. I saw no aircraft and proceeded north to cross runway. Just as I approached runway, I saw an aircraft (white with blue) lifting off. Made immediate evasive turn. Flat lighting, aircraft color, no radio call.
