Narrative:
Landing runway 5 at yyz when we were told to exit the high speed taxiway H. We were unable because of excess speed and the fact that the braking action was only fair. Then, while during xfer of aircraft control to captain, tower said to make next right turnoff because an aircraft was on a 2 mi final. We took the next right taxiway and got yelled at by tower. Apparently, he said to make the next right onto runway 15/33. We did not hear him say make the turn onto another active runway. We don't think it's wise to give directions to pilots during a critical phase of flight in bad WX and the pilot is not obligated to exit the runway where the controller demands. It's my runway until I get off.

Title: MD80 CREW ON ROLLOUT AT CYYZ, BECAME CONFUSED ON WHERE TO EXIT RWY.
Narrative: LNDG RWY 5 AT YYZ WHEN WE WERE TOLD TO EXIT THE HIGH SPD TXWY H. WE WERE UNABLE BECAUSE OF EXCESS SPD AND THE FACT THAT THE BRAKING ACTION WAS ONLY FAIR. THEN, WHILE DURING XFER OF ACFT CTL TO CAPT, TWR SAID TO MAKE NEXT R TURNOFF BECAUSE AN ACFT WAS ON A 2 MI FINAL. WE TOOK THE NEXT R TXWY AND GOT YELLED AT BY TWR. APPARENTLY, HE SAID TO MAKE THE NEXT R ONTO RWY 15/33. WE DID NOT HEAR HIM SAY MAKE THE TURN ONTO ANOTHER ACTIVE RWY. WE DON'T THINK IT'S WISE TO GIVE DIRECTIONS TO PLTS DURING A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT IN BAD WX AND THE PLT IS NOT OBLIGATED TO EXIT THE RWY WHERE THE CTLR DEMANDS. IT'S MY RWY UNTIL I GET OFF.
