Narrative:
During the taxi instructions, at a time when ground was very busy and major airport improvements are underway, we were told to taxi to and hold short of runway 22L. The co-captain stated that he hoped that we did not have to taxi all the way around the airport as they had just changed takeoff runways from runway 31C to runway 22L. For us, we had to taxi from the southwest ramp via taxiway juliet. NOTAMS that morning listed runway 22R/4L closed as well as runway 13L/31R closed. The other 2 aircraft in front of us were told to hold short of runway 22L (at the time, I did not realize that they were relocating to the east ramp). I assumed that we were following them for takeoff. (I was wrong to assume.) I was at the controls and asked the co-captain 'are we to hold short runway 22L?' he initially stated just the word 'right' -- to which I said 'runway 22L, correct?' he paused, then stated 'yes, correct, runway 22L.' I proceeded to follow the aircraft across runway 22R (which was notamed closed and was being used for taxi only). As soon as I crossed runway 22R, the ground controller called us and said he told us to hold short of right runway (runway 22R). I was shocked. (Further discussion between myself and the co-captain led to the fact that I talked him into crossing runway 22R.) the controller then told us that we would have to hold our position until he could have us do 2 left turns then get back in sequence. I messed up by not stopping the aircraft and asking for a clarification of where to stop. We apologized and the controller said no problem. However, the lesson learned here is to always have a clear understanding of the taxi/hold short instructions and write them down on the kneepad. (We simply got sidetracked during the taxi out.) do not depend on our memory. And, if there is any doubt at all, safely stop the plane and ask for clarification from the controller. Plus, in the future, we will not use the word 'right' when trying to affirm something -- especially when it involves a right and left runway. It shall be 'correct or affirmative.' we were lucky the runway was closed and there was no conflict. The only thing hurt was my pride, because everyone at this airport knows who we are. This is a major lesson learned.

Title: GULFSTREAM IV FLC HAS RWY INCURSION AT KDMW.
Narrative: DURING THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, AT A TIME WHEN GND WAS VERY BUSY AND MAJOR ARPT IMPROVEMENTS ARE UNDERWAY, WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22L. THE CO-CAPT STATED THAT HE HOPED THAT WE DID NOT HAVE TO TAXI ALL THE WAY AROUND THE ARPT AS THEY HAD JUST CHANGED TKOF RWYS FROM RWY 31C TO RWY 22L. FOR US, WE HAD TO TAXI FROM THE SW RAMP VIA TXWY JULIET. NOTAMS THAT MORNING LISTED RWY 22R/4L CLOSED AS WELL AS RWY 13L/31R CLOSED. THE OTHER 2 ACFT IN FRONT OF US WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22L (AT THE TIME, I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THEY WERE RELOCATING TO THE E RAMP). I ASSUMED THAT WE WERE FOLLOWING THEM FOR TKOF. (I WAS WRONG TO ASSUME.) I WAS AT THE CONTROLS AND ASKED THE CO-CAPT 'ARE WE TO HOLD SHORT RWY 22L?' HE INITIALLY STATED JUST THE WORD 'RIGHT' -- TO WHICH I SAID 'RWY 22L, CORRECT?' HE PAUSED, THEN STATED 'YES, CORRECT, RWY 22L.' I PROCEEDED TO FOLLOW THE ACFT ACROSS RWY 22R (WHICH WAS NOTAMED CLOSED AND WAS BEING USED FOR TAXI ONLY). AS SOON AS I CROSSED RWY 22R, THE GND CTLR CALLED US AND SAID HE TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF R RWY (RWY 22R). I WAS SHOCKED. (FURTHER DISCUSSION BTWN MYSELF AND THE CO-CAPT LED TO THE FACT THAT I TALKED HIM INTO XING RWY 22R.) THE CTLR THEN TOLD US THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO HOLD OUR POS UNTIL HE COULD HAVE US DO 2 L TURNS THEN GET BACK IN SEQUENCE. I MESSED UP BY NOT STOPPING THE ACFT AND ASKING FOR A CLARIFICATION OF WHERE TO STOP. WE APOLOGIZED AND THE CTLR SAID NO PROB. AND, IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT AT ALL, SAFELY STOP THE PLANE AND ASK FOR CLARIFICATION FROM THE CTLR. PLUS, IN THE FUTURE, WE WILL NOT USE THE WORD 'RIGHT' WHEN TRYING TO AFFIRM SOMETHING -- ESPECIALLY WHEN IT INVOLVES A R AND L RWY. IT SHALL BE 'CORRECT OR AFFIRMATIVE.' WE WERE LUCKY THE RWY WAS CLOSED AND THERE WAS NO CONFLICT. THE ONLY THING HURT WAS MY PRIDE, BECAUSE EVERYONE AT THIS ARPT KNOWS WHO WE ARE. THIS IS A MAJOR LESSON LEARNED.
