Narrative:
On approach into las, we were told we were #4 for runway 25L, but to expect to be #1 in about 1 min. As we approached the field, we were cleared for a visual approach. I was the PF, so the captain responded 'cleared the visual to the left.' the initial clearance was a bit hard to hear, and as we approached the field, I asked the captain if we were going to the left and he said, 'yes, to the left.' at this time, approach gave us a call about staying clear of the runway 25R final. This did not make sense to us, because we would have to cross the runway 25R final to go to runway 25L. At this time, the captain called approach and asked 'confirm we are cleared to runway 25L.' approach clarified that we were cleared to runway 19L. We immediately turned to the right, cleared the runway 25R final, and flew a visual to runway 19L. Lesson learned: sometimes you hear what you expect to hear. Throw in a slightly degraded transmission from approach and an inaccurate readback, and you can end up doing the incorrect approach.

Title: B737 FLC ON APCH TO LAS, RESPOND TO GARBLED L30 XMISSION, CONDUCT AN APCH TO RWY 25L, ARE CHALLENGED BY L30 OBSERVING A WRONG RWY APCH IN PROGRESS.
Narrative: ON APCH INTO LAS, WE WERE TOLD WE WERE #4 FOR RWY 25L, BUT TO EXPECT TO BE #1 IN ABOUT 1 MIN. AS WE APCHED THE FIELD, WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH. I WAS THE PF, SO THE CAPT RESPONDED 'CLRED THE VISUAL TO THE L.' THE INITIAL CLRNC WAS A BIT HARD TO HEAR, AND AS WE APCHED THE FIELD, I ASKED THE CAPT IF WE WERE GOING TO THE L AND HE SAID, 'YES, TO THE L.' AT THIS TIME, APCH GAVE US A CALL ABOUT STAYING CLR OF THE RWY 25R FINAL. THIS DID NOT MAKE SENSE TO US, BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE TO CROSS THE RWY 25R FINAL TO GO TO RWY 25L. AT THIS TIME, THE CAPT CALLED APCH AND ASKED 'CONFIRM WE ARE CLRED TO RWY 25L.' APCH CLARIFIED THAT WE WERE CLRED TO RWY 19L. WE IMMEDIATELY TURNED TO THE R, CLRED THE RWY 25R FINAL, AND FLEW A VISUAL TO RWY 19L. LESSON LEARNED: SOMETIMES YOU HEAR WHAT YOU EXPECT TO HEAR. THROW IN A SLIGHTLY DEGRADED XMISSION FROM APCH AND AN INACCURATE READBACK, AND YOU CAN END UP DOING THE INCORRECT APCH.
