Narrative:
Aft cargo door light illuminated during climb. I stopped climb, gave emergency checklist to first officer to perform and immediately started down as I knew we would be 'dumping' the cabin per checklist. This particular first officer has poor communication skills and didn't quite get our intentions relayed to ATC. In afterthought, I should have handled ATC and just had the first officer handle checklist and other secondary duties.
