Narrative:
Rotated tire -- it moved freely, there was no side play. Verified torque, safety bolts installed, hub head installed. Asked mechanics if spacer was installed, he said yes. Checked for threads checked ok. Tire was already on axle when I got to the aircraft. Became aware later that spacer was missing. Damage occurred.

Title: A B767-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A MAIN LNDG GEAR WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY INSTALLED WITHOUT THE WHEEL SPACER.
Narrative: ROTATED TIRE -- IT MOVED FREELY, THERE WAS NO SIDE PLAY. VERIFIED TORQUE, SAFETY BOLTS INSTALLED, HUB HEAD INSTALLED. ASKED MECHS IF SPACER WAS INSTALLED, HE SAID YES. CHKED FOR THREADS CHKED OK. TIRE WAS ALREADY ON AXLE WHEN I GOT TO THE ACFT. BECAME AWARE LATER THAT SPACER WAS MISSING. DAMAGE OCCURRED.
