Narrative:
We were practicing ground reference maneuvers and experienced a near midair collision/conflict in the portion of the school's designated practice area that was closest to the airport. Ways we could have avoided the incident: 1) exercised greater vigilance in clearing the practice area, and 2) listening more closely to the radio. Inactions on the other aircraft's part: 1) lack of proper TA calls, 2) lack of situational awareness, since we had made several position reports stating our position, altitude, and intentions.
