Narrative:
I am a student pilot and was logging time for the solo cross country requirements for my private pilot's license. I flew to ZZZ on jan/sun/03. The end of runway 30 was in a tree-lined alcove and was partially snow covered with patchy ice from the day before. By the time I realized that I would not be able to stop before the end of the runway, it was too late to abort the landing and do a go around. I slid off the end of the runway and in the process destroyed one of the runway end markers with the left strut of my aircraft. The airport was unattended at the time. The AFD mentioned that runway 30/12 had snow removal procedures. I chose this airport because of this, but did not realize that this would only be done while attended. In retrospect, I probably should have overflown the runway to determine if a safe landing could have been achieved.

Title: STUDENT PLT EXITS RWY ON LNDG ROLL.
Narrative: I AM A STUDENT PLT AND WAS LOGGING TIME FOR THE SOLO XCOUNTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR MY PVT PLT'S LICENSE. I FLEW TO ZZZ ON JAN/SUN/03. THE END OF RWY 30 WAS IN A TREE-LINED ALCOVE AND WAS PARTIALLY SNOW COVERED WITH PATCHY ICE FROM THE DAY BEFORE. BY THE TIME I REALIZED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP BEFORE THE END OF THE RWY, IT WAS TOO LATE TO ABORT THE LNDG AND DO A GAR. I SLID OFF THE END OF THE RWY AND IN THE PROCESS DESTROYED ONE OF THE RWY END MARKERS WITH THE L STRUT OF MY ACFT. THE ARPT WAS UNATTENDED AT THE TIME. THE AFD MENTIONED THAT RWY 30/12 HAD SNOW REMOVAL PROCS. I CHOSE THIS ARPT BECAUSE OF THIS, BUT DID NOT REALIZE THAT THIS WOULD ONLY BE DONE WHILE ATTENDED. IN RETROSPECT, I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE OVERFLOWN THE RWY TO DETERMINE IF A SAFE LNDG COULD HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.
