Narrative:
While departing teb on the teb 5 departure, we were supposed to climb to 1500 ft MSL on runway heading, then right turn to 280 degree heading until 4.5 DME, then climb to 2000 ft MSL. Me and my copilot and completed all checklist items, but did not notice we had an incorrect altimeter setting. Field elevation is 9 ft and the altimeter was set at 30.36 with an altitude of 860 ft. On the departure, I leveled off at 1500 ft MSL, but was only at 600 ft AGL. New york departure asked us to say altitude, which was 1500 ft MSL. Neither of us caught the incorrect altimeter setting. One factor leading up to this was for both of us, it was the first time either of us flew this hawker which was all EFIS and both of us came off a steam gauge airplane. We were rushed and in an unfamiliar cockpit.
