Narrative:
Cleared for visual approach to runway 36L at dfw. Kept very fast and high on approach. While configuring for landing (flaps/gear) and completing the landing checklist, I inadvertently lined up with runway 35L. Simultaneously, I saw another airline jet to my right and I immediately banked left to realize I was on the east side of airport. Tower also directed us to fly left and line up with runway 36L on west complex. We lined up and landed on runway 36L.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WRONG RWY APCH WHEN A DISTR FO AS PF ON AN A320 LINES UP WITH RWY 35L INSTEAD OF RWY 36L AT DFW, TX.
Narrative: CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH TO RWY 36L AT DFW. KEPT VERY FAST AND HIGH ON APCH. WHILE CONFIGURING FOR LNDG (FLAPS/GEAR) AND COMPLETING THE LNDG CHKLIST, I INADVERTENTLY LINED UP WITH RWY 35L. SIMULTANEOUSLY, I SAW ANOTHER AIRLINE JET TO MY R AND I IMMEDIATELY BANKED L TO REALIZE I WAS ON THE E SIDE OF ARPT. TWR ALSO DIRECTED US TO FLY L AND LINE UP WITH RWY 36L ON W COMPLEX. WE LINED UP AND LANDED ON RWY 36L.
