Narrative:
As we were finishing our meal service, a passenger said to me, 'if you need help, I would be happy to assist, I'm a doctor.' I wasn't sure what he was talking about and then he said a man hit his head. When I arrived in the aft galley there was the #2 flight attendant and 2 passenger and 1 passenger had his head wrapped in a large bandage. He was traveling with the other man and he said 'his wife was mad at him and hit him over the head with a wine bottle.' at first, I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. The doctor later evaluated him and advised him to get a tetanus shot as soon as possible. Apparently, the victim hadn't been drinking but his wife was. They were traveling in a group and it was said that she was on a business trip. I think alcohol was a factor here and we could have had a very serious incident on our hands if the wound had been any deeper. We called ahead and had a special service agent meet the flight, but the passenger didn't want to press charges against his wife. They were a british couple. I don't know how much this woman had had to drink since I was working on the other side of the airplane, but I do think as flight attendants we need to be very aware of people's behavior and know when it is best to limit or discontinue serving alcohol to people. This is a tough one because I don't know other than limiting her alcohol, how this could have been avoided.
