Narrative:
My government organization was conducting a funded form xx day. Form xx's basically are a pilot chkout system that exceeded the requirements for a flight review. While departing naples (apf) traffic pattern, ATC advised another plane that he would not allow any more touch and goes for the rest of the day -- as he was too busy. The other pilot responded that he would do landing/taxi backs, and the tower told him that would not work either. Based on this transmission and our briefing given earlier that morning, I instructed applicant to head towards kimm. When we advised unicom of our location and intention, someone responded that there was a NOTAM regarding runway 5 being closed due to an airshow. Airshow pilot said he was staying over runway 09/27. He said to be sure to use runway 36, left pattern. We assured him we would. While applicant flew, I contacted saint petersburg FSS to inquire about NOTAM and was told there was no NOTAM on file with them. They advised us to contact miami FSS and received some response. However, when I called FSS for return IFR flight later that day, they told me about an 'aerobatic demonstration' 20 NM on (I think they said) 110 degree radial from southwest florida international (rsw). It bothers me that FSS did not have kimm as the identifier for the aerobatic show, thereby not being able to provide me with sufficient information when I requested it while airborne.

Title: A GOV ORGANIZATION C172 PLT RPTED THAT A NOTAM REGARDING AN AIRSHOW AT IMM WAS NOT RELEASED, WITH THE CORRECT INFO, IN A TIMELY FASHION.
Narrative: MY GOV ORGANIZATION WAS CONDUCTING A FUNDED FORM XX DAY. FORM XX'S BASICALLY ARE A PLT CHKOUT SYS THAT EXCEEDED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A FLT REVIEW. WHILE DEPARTING NAPLES (APF) TFC PATTERN, ATC ADVISED ANOTHER PLANE THAT HE WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY MORE TOUCH AND GOES FOR THE REST OF THE DAY -- AS HE WAS TOO BUSY. THE OTHER PLT RESPONDED THAT HE WOULD DO LNDG/TAXI BACKS, AND THE TWR TOLD HIM THAT WOULD NOT WORK EITHER. BASED ON THIS XMISSION AND OUR BRIEFING GIVEN EARLIER THAT MORNING, I INSTRUCTED APPLICANT TO HEAD TOWARDS KIMM. WHEN WE ADVISED UNICOM OF OUR LOCATION AND INTENTION, SOMEONE RESPONDED THAT THERE WAS A NOTAM REGARDING RWY 5 BEING CLOSED DUE TO AN AIRSHOW. AIRSHOW PLT SAID HE WAS STAYING OVER RWY 09/27. HE SAID TO BE SURE TO USE RWY 36, L PATTERN. HOWEVER, WHEN I CALLED FSS FOR RETURN IFR FLT LATER THAT DAY, THEY TOLD ME ABOUT AN 'AEROBATIC DEMONSTRATION' 20 NM ON (I THINK THEY SAID) 110 DEG RADIAL FROM SW FLORIDA INTL (RSW). IT BOTHERS ME THAT FSS DID NOT HAVE KIMM AS THE IDENTIFIER FOR THE AEROBATIC SHOW, THEREBY NOT BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH SUFFICIENT INFO WHEN I REQUESTED IT WHILE AIRBORNE.
