Narrative:
While cruising toward cvg on the sweed 6 arrival near artur intersection, I realized that we had not heard from ATC for what seemed like an unusually long time. We verified that our radios were properly set and attempted to contact ATC, but were unsuccessful using the assigned frequency. So, we referenced the en route chart for a frequency in our area. ATC was successfully contacted on that frequency and subsequently handed us off to the correct controller. Mins later, atlanta radio contacted us on the company frequency on behalf of ATC. We told atlanta radio that the issue had been resolved. We were cruising approximately 10000 ft lower than originally flight planned due to turbulence reported at higher altitudes. Perhaps this affected signal coverage/reception since both ATC and atlanta radio had some difficulty establishing contact with our flight, even though both frequencys were being monitored attentively.

Title: A CL65 CAPT RPTED A LOSS OF COM SIGNAL AT FL220 NEAR CVG.
Narrative: WHILE CRUISING TOWARD CVG ON THE SWEED 6 ARR NEAR ARTUR INTXN, I REALIZED THAT WE HAD NOT HEARD FROM ATC FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE AN UNUSUALLY LONG TIME. WE VERIFIED THAT OUR RADIOS WERE PROPERLY SET AND ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT ATC, BUT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL USING THE ASSIGNED FREQ. SO, WE REFED THE ENRTE CHART FOR A FREQ IN OUR AREA. ATC WAS SUCCESSFULLY CONTACTED ON THAT FREQ AND SUBSEQUENTLY HANDED US OFF TO THE CORRECT CTLR. MINS LATER, ATLANTA RADIO CONTACTED US ON THE COMPANY FREQ ON BEHALF OF ATC. WE TOLD ATLANTA RADIO THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN RESOLVED. WE WERE CRUISING APPROX 10000 FT LOWER THAN ORIGINALLY FLT PLANNED DUE TO TURB RPTED AT HIGHER ALTS. PERHAPS THIS AFFECTED SIGNAL COVERAGE/RECEPTION SINCE BOTH ATC AND ATLANTA RADIO HAD SOME DIFFICULTY ESTABLISHING CONTACT WITH OUR FLT, EVEN THOUGH BOTH FREQS WERE BEING MONITORED ATTENTIVELY.
