Narrative:
Failed to acquire pre departure clearance at blocks and had to be reminded to put squawk into transponder. After airborne, sent for pre departure clearance and found it in agreement with flight path. No indications from ATC that we did not have a clearance and indeed since the pre departure clearance came up we did. Been flying the route all month and briefed what we expected and thought we had received the pre departure clearance at the appropriate time. Better attention to the formal briefing guidelines would have prevented this error. Fortunately, the clearance matched our expectations.
