Narrative:

Was on downwind in pattern doing night practice lndgs. Had to extend downwind for 2 arriving aircraft. Flew a downwind heading because I could not see runway from cockpit. The further out I got on downwind , the aircraft ended up drifting closer to the final approach course. Tower called out the traffic on final. I saw first aircraft, but not second one. Saw last aircraft on final going under my left wing. On extended downwind, I feel tower should have given me a heading to maintain my ground track due to the low altitude, distance, and them having a radar in tower could have kept aircraft from drifting toward final course.
