Narrative:

I performed 2 stop and go lndgs on runway 14L. After informing the tower of a piece of metal on the runway, tower directed me to taxi to runway 14R (for another stop and go), hold short of runway 14R. I proceeded via taxiway east to taxi back, but did not hold short of runway 14R. Tower caught my error with a call to hold short, which I did prior to entering runway 14R, but beyond the hold short line. A plane was departing runway 14R, lifting off about 500 ft from my position. I was distracted by the change of runway, situationally forgetting I had to cross runway 14R first, before taxiing back. I mentally associated the hold short instruction with holding after taxiing back. Due to winter conditions and job demands, I had flown only 1 hour in the last 60 days. This flight was to be a landing refresher. It also became an object lesson in maintaining situational awareness.

Title: A VAN'S RV6 EXPERIMENTAL ACFT PLT PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 14R AT MIC.

Narrative: I PERFORMED 2 STOP AND GO LNDGS ON RWY 14L. AFTER INFORMING THE TWR OF A PIECE OF METAL ON THE RWY, TWR DIRECTED ME TO TAXI TO RWY 14R (FOR ANOTHER STOP AND GO), HOLD SHORT OF RWY 14R. I PROCEEDED VIA TXWY E TO TAXI BACK, BUT DID NOT HOLD SHORT OF RWY 14R. TWR CAUGHT MY ERROR WITH A CALL TO HOLD SHORT, WHICH I DID PRIOR TO ENTERING RWY 14R, BUT BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. A PLANE WAS DEPARTING RWY 14R, LIFTING OFF ABOUT 500 FT FROM MY POS. I WAS DISTRACTED BY THE CHANGE OF RWY, SITUATIONALLY FORGETTING I HAD TO CROSS RWY 14R FIRST, BEFORE TAXIING BACK. I MENTALLY ASSOCIATED THE HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION WITH HOLDING AFTER TAXIING BACK. DUE TO WINTER CONDITIONS AND JOB DEMANDS, I HAD FLOWN ONLY 1 HR IN THE LAST 60 DAYS. THIS FLT WAS TO BE A LNDG REFRESHER. IT ALSO BECAME AN OBJECT LESSON IN MAINTAINING SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
