Narrative:
Date: mar/sun/03. Location: ogg. Time: approximately XA30 hawaiian standard time. After fueling at east ramp, I contacted ground. Aircraft X: 'cessna X at east ramp taxi to intersection east for departure.' tower: 'cessna X cleared to taxi runway 2 intersection east.' I proceeded to intersection east. At this time an air carrier flight was proceeding to taxiway. When I reached intersection east, I contacted tower. Aircraft X: 'maui tower cessna X at intersection east ready to take off.' tower: 'cleared to take off runway 2.' aircraft X: 'clear to take off runway 2, cessna X.' then I proceeded to runway 2, at that time tower called us frantically calling 'aircraft X, aircraft X, aircraft X air carrier, cancel takeoff.' immediately after I heard it I turned around and left runway. As I look back to this incident, the tower did not specify which plane was cleared to take off, but the tower did not reply after I contacted that I was taking off at runway 2. I assumed it was me that was clear to take off. In order to avoid this type of incident, always make sure the clearance is followed by your call sign.

Title: PLT OF C172 AT INTXN E ON RWY 2 AT OGG WRONGLY ASSUMED PARTIALLY BLOCKED TKOF CLRNC WAS FOR HIM. WHEN HE ENTERED THE RWY PROPER THE LCL CTLR CANCELED THE TKOF OF THE ACR ACFT DEPARTING FROM THE FULL LENGTH OF THE RWY.
Narrative: DATE: MAR/SUN/03. LOCATION: OGG. TIME: APPROX XA30 HAWAIIAN STANDARD TIME. AFTER FUELING AT E RAMP, I CONTACTED GND. ACFT X: 'CESSNA X AT E RAMP TAXI TO INTXN E FOR DEP.' TWR: 'CESSNA X CLRED TO TAXI RWY 2 INTXN E.' I PROCEEDED TO INTXN E. AT THIS TIME AN ACR FLT WAS PROCEEDING TO TXWY. WHEN I REACHED INTXN E, I CONTACTED TWR. ACFT X: 'MAUI TWR CESSNA X AT INTXN E READY TO TAKE OFF.' TWR: 'CLRED TO TAKE OFF RWY 2.' ACFT X: 'CLR TO TAKE OFF RWY 2, CESSNA X.' THEN I PROCEEDED TO RWY 2, AT THAT TIME TWR CALLED US FRANTICALLY CALLING 'ACFT X, ACFT X, ACFT X ACR, CANCEL TKOF.' IMMEDIATELY AFTER I HEARD IT I TURNED AROUND AND LEFT RWY. AS I LOOK BACK TO THIS INCIDENT, THE TWR DID NOT SPECIFY WHICH PLANE WAS CLRED TO TAKE OFF, BUT THE TWR DID NOT REPLY AFTER I CONTACTED THAT I WAS TAKING OFF AT RWY 2. I ASSUMED IT WAS ME THAT WAS CLR TO TAKE OFF. IN ORDER TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE CLRNC IS FOLLOWED BY YOUR CALL SIGN.
