Narrative:
While entering holding, and descending on arrival, cabin left pack quit. Cabin climbed rapidly at over 1500 FPM. Emergency procedures stopped cabin climb at 8000 ft. A few moments later, the left pack quit again, and cabin went above 10000 ft. Accomplished emergency descent to 10000 ft. Continued flight crew to dfw and landed without incident.

Title: MD80 PERFORMED EMER DSCNT FROM FL310-10000 FT AFTER PACK FAILED AND CABIN ALT EXCEEDED 10000 FT.
Narrative: WHILE ENTERING HOLDING, AND DSNDING ON ARR, CABIN L PACK QUIT. CABIN CLBED RAPIDLY AT OVER 1500 FPM. EMER PROCS STOPPED CABIN CLB AT 8000 FT. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, THE L PACK QUIT AGAIN, AND CABIN WENT ABOVE 10000 FT. ACCOMPLISHED EMER DSCNT TO 10000 FT. CONTINUED FLT CREW TO DFW AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT.
