Narrative:
During station visit by FAA inspector, it was brought to management's attention that I was not qualified as a line inspector due to not having an eye examination. In 14 yrs of inspecting, I have never had an eye examination, and I am not a full-time line inspector. (Air carrier has eye exams on file for my other qualifications.) air carrier gn/MM manuals and maintenance head of inspection, state that it is not required for the scope of inspections that I accomplish. The FAA inspector insists otherwise. If this is the case, then none of the hundreds of inspections I have accomplished (since june of 1989) with air carrier are legal. The most recent being on aircraft X on mar/thu/03 ('K' check).
