Narrative:
The trip was from ZZZZ to lga. I had a very new first officer (less than 100 hour in aircraft, part 121 operations and first trip to lga). She took a call from ATC and read back that we should turn right and descend. I did not catch that she had taken the call for another company aircraft. We turned and began the descent. I noticed that we were descending towards manhattan about the time the controller began screaming at us to stop our descent and turn left. The mistake was corrected within 20 degrees and I think 300-350 ft. What can be done to prevent a recurrence? I shudder at the prospect of more far's, however, it might be worth considering not sending first officer's with less than 100 hours, 121 experience to lga, jfk or dca. The captain is loaded while compensating for the first officer and may not be able to catch everything.

Title: CL65 CREW TOOK A CLRNC FOR ANOTHER ACFT AND HAD AN ALTDEV AND TRACK DEV AS A RESULT IN N90 CLASS B.
Narrative: THE TRIP WAS FROM ZZZZ TO LGA. I HAD A VERY NEW FO (LESS THAN 100 HR IN ACFT, PART 121 OPS AND FIRST TRIP TO LGA). SHE TOOK A CALL FROM ATC AND READ BACK THAT WE SHOULD TURN R AND DSND. I DID NOT CATCH THAT SHE HAD TAKEN THE CALL FOR ANOTHER COMPANY ACFT. WE TURNED AND BEGAN THE DSCNT. I NOTICED THAT WE WERE DSNDING TOWARDS MANHATTAN ABOUT THE TIME THE CTLR BEGAN SCREAMING AT US TO STOP OUR DSCNT AND TURN L. THE MISTAKE WAS CORRECTED WITHIN 20 DEGS AND I THINK 300-350 FT. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE? I SHUDDER AT THE PROSPECT OF MORE FAR'S, HOWEVER, IT MIGHT BE WORTH CONSIDERING NOT SENDING FO'S WITH LESS THAN 100 HRS, 121 EXPERIENCE TO LGA, JFK OR DCA. THE CAPT IS LOADED WHILE COMPENSATING FOR THE FO AND MAY NOT BE ABLE TO CATCH EVERYTHING.
