Narrative:

Recent trouble with the gear not retracting and locking with the switch, have had to cycle switch several times to get the gear up or down -- this has been witnessed twice recently with a CFI aboard. Once we had to manually crank the gear down. I was on my commercial check ride with an FAA examiner. Check ride was going great, and I was on my last landing of several in a row. It was to be a soft field landing. On downwind, I did my before landing checklist, witnessed by the examiner. Just as I was completing the checklist, the examiner pulled the power and said you just lost your engine and flaps -- land. I quickly turned towards the runway and slipped the plane to the ground once having made the runway, and landed about 1/3 way down the runway gear up. Neither of us heard the gear horn. I believe my attention was diverted from monitoring the gear when the emergency arose. I assumed when I put the switch down, the gear went down. I can't say if there was a green light. I can usually feel and hear the gear running, but again, my attention was diverted to the emergency.

Narrative: RECENT TROUBLE WITH THE GEAR NOT RETRACTING AND LOCKING WITH THE SWITCH, HAVE HAD TO CYCLE SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE GEAR UP OR DOWN -- THIS HAS BEEN WITNESSED TWICE RECENTLY WITH A CFI ABOARD. ONCE WE HAD TO MANUALLY CRANK THE GEAR DOWN. I WAS ON MY COMMERCIAL CHK RIDE WITH AN FAA EXAMINER. CHK RIDE WAS GOING GREAT, AND I WAS ON MY LAST LNDG OF SEVERAL IN A ROW. IT WAS TO BE A SOFT FIELD LNDG. ON DOWNWIND, I DID MY BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST, WITNESSED BY THE EXAMINER. JUST AS I WAS COMPLETING THE CHKLIST, THE EXAMINER PULLED THE PWR AND SAID YOU JUST LOST YOUR ENG AND FLAPS -- LAND. I QUICKLY TURNED TOWARDS THE RWY AND SLIPPED THE PLANE TO THE GND ONCE HAVING MADE THE RWY, AND LANDED ABOUT 1/3 WAY DOWN THE RWY GEAR UP. NEITHER OF US HEARD THE GEAR HORN. I BELIEVE MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED FROM MONITORING THE GEAR WHEN THE EMER AROSE. I ASSUMED WHEN I PUT THE SWITCH DOWN, THE GEAR WENT DOWN. I CAN'T SAY IF THERE WAS A GREEN LIGHT. I CAN USUALLY FEEL AND HEAR THE GEAR RUNNING, BUT AGAIN, MY ATTN WAS DIVERTED TO THE EMER.
