Narrative:
About 50 west of abq, advised by #1 flight attendant they had passenger having difficulties. Contacted operations and had them start a patch to the physician on call. Advised them of the possibility of landing abq. An onboard physician was paged, and a cardiologist responded to look at passenger. Onboard physician advised it was his opinion passenger needed to be cared for, and we should get him on the ground. Asked if he would be ok to divert some 35-45 mins away. Doctor stated that would be the maximum time frame. We were overweight for landing, and after looking at the options, we would still be over at either den or ama. Elected to land abq. Declared medical emergency with ZAB and landed abq. Passenger removed by paramedics and xported to hospital. Maintenance performed overweight check, and we departed to stl.
