Narrative:
This event took place on my student's first solo cross country. The student was flying a flight plan from lgu-pih-mld with lndgs at each airport. The first leg was uneventful. During the second leg, the student was tracking the mld VOR in idaho and became disoriented. The student became overwhelmed and stopped following headings that were predetermined on the flight plan. As a result, the student became lost. The student requested assistance with FSS mins later. FSS instructed the student to contact ZLC. The student complied, and center issued a vector to mld. The student landed safely at mld and continued uneventfully to lgu.

Title: INSTRUCTOR PLT RPT REGARDING HIS STUDENT GETTING LOST ON HIS FIRST SOLO XCOUNTRY FLT NW OF MLD, ID.
Narrative: THIS EVENT TOOK PLACE ON MY STUDENT'S FIRST SOLO XCOUNTRY. THE STUDENT WAS FLYING A FLT PLAN FROM LGU-PIH-MLD WITH LNDGS AT EACH ARPT. THE FIRST LEG WAS UNEVENTFUL. DURING THE SECOND LEG, THE STUDENT WAS TRACKING THE MLD VOR IN IDAHO AND BECAME DISORIENTED. THE STUDENT BECAME OVERWHELMED AND STOPPED FOLLOWING HEADINGS THAT WERE PREDETERMINED ON THE FLT PLAN. AS A RESULT, THE STUDENT BECAME LOST. THE STUDENT REQUESTED ASSISTANCE WITH FSS MINS LATER. FSS INSTRUCTED THE STUDENT TO CONTACT ZLC. THE STUDENT COMPLIED, AND CTR ISSUED A VECTOR TO MLD. THE STUDENT LANDED SAFELY AT MLD AND CONTINUED UNEVENTFULLY TO LGU.
