Narrative:
This is the sequence of events, as I remember them: 1) we were holding on arrival into fll due to WX (fll was closed). 2) we received a call from the aft flight attendant reporting a smell of burning rubber/fumes in the cabin, she didn't see smoke. 3) after the captain conferred with her, we immediately requested diversion to mia. 4) flight attendants kept us advised of the situation throughout the arrival, and the condition had not worsened. 5) we advised dispatch, mia operations, and mia ramp of the situation, and received a gate assignment. 6) landed without incident, and proceeded to the gate after advising ramp of our arrival. 7) arrived at gate, discovered that the gate was cluttered with other airline ramp equipment, and no personnel there. Called ramp and operations, and was advised that they were on the way. 8) other ramp crew finally moved their equipment and marshaled the aircraft to the gate. 9) at the gate, there was no agent to move the jet bridge. Again, we called operations, they said that they were very busy with many diversions, and someone is on the way. 10) a few mins later, and still no agent, the captain asked operations if they knew our situation. They said that they were informed that we had diverted for WX, and asked if we had received our fuel yet. 11) called dispatch again. 12) agent arrived and told passenger to remain on the aircraft. 13) maintenance arrived, but can't access the aircraft, because nobody knew the jet bridge code from the ramp. 14) flight attendant called from the aft of the aircraft to report that the smell was getting worse. At the same time, I began to faintly smell the fumes. 15) we immediately disembarked the passenger, against the agent's wishes.

Title: AFTER HOLDING FOR A WX DELAY NEAR FLL, A B757 PIC ELECTS TO DIVERT TO MIA WHEN THE FLT ATTENDANT IN THE CABIN SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF BURNING RUBBER. AFTER THE DIVERSION, THE ACFT WAS ABANDONED AT THE GATE WHEN THE FUMES GOT STRONGER.

AGAIN, WE CALLED OPS, THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE VERY BUSY WITH MANY DIVERSIONS, AND SOMEONE IS ON THE WAY. 10) A FEW MINS LATER, AND STILL NO AGENT, THE CAPT ASKED OPS IF THEY KNEW OUR SIT. THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE INFORMED THAT WE HAD DIVERTED FOR WX, AND ASKED IF WE HAD RECEIVED OUR FUEL YET. 11) CALLED DISPATCH AGAIN. 12) AGENT ARRIVED AND TOLD PAX TO REMAIN ON THE ACFT. 13) MAINT ARRIVED, BUT CAN'T ACCESS THE ACFT, BECAUSE NOBODY KNEW THE JET BRIDGE CODE FROM THE RAMP. 14) FLT ATTENDANT CALLED FROM THE AFT OF THE ACFT TO RPT THAT THE SMELL WAS GETTING WORSE. AT THE SAME TIME, I BEGAN TO FAINTLY SMELL THE FUMES. 15) WE IMMEDIATELY DISEMBARKED THE PAX, AGAINST THE AGENT'S WISHES.
