Narrative:
While en route from atl to mco, the captain (PNF) acknowledged a clearance intended for another company aircraft with a similar sounding flight number. The clearance was to climb from FL270 to FL370, which was the planned cruise altitude for the flight. The captain responded '(flight) out of FL270 for FL370.' shortly thereafter, ATC advised that the clearance was for another aircraft, and to maintain FL290. Reportedly, there were no traffic conflicts as a result of the mistaken clearance. I will recommend that my company note on flight plans of flts with similar flight numbers, that the flts maybe on a common frequency.

Title: B777 FLT CREW START CLB FROM FL270 TO FL370, THEN LEARNED CLRNC HAD BEEN ISSUED TO ANOTHER ACFT WITH A SIMILAR CALL SIGN.
Narrative: WHILE ENRTE FROM ATL TO MCO, THE CAPT (PNF) ACKNOWLEDGED A CLRNC INTENDED FOR ANOTHER COMPANY ACFT WITH A SIMILAR SOUNDING FLT NUMBER. THE CLRNC WAS TO CLB FROM FL270 TO FL370, WHICH WAS THE PLANNED CRUISE ALT FOR THE FLT. THE CAPT RESPONDED '(FLT) OUT OF FL270 FOR FL370.' SHORTLY THEREAFTER, ATC ADVISED THAT THE CLRNC WAS FOR ANOTHER ACFT, AND TO MAINTAIN FL290. REPORTEDLY, THERE WERE NO TFC CONFLICTS AS A RESULT OF THE MISTAKEN CLRNC. I WILL RECOMMEND THAT MY COMPANY NOTE ON FLT PLANS OF FLTS WITH SIMILAR FLT NUMBERS, THAT THE FLTS MAYBE ON A COMMON FREQ.
